Guest Post: Focused Family Time

Kelly and Ben Stahl and their family recently attended family camp, and I asked Kelly to share about a little about their experience.

Thanks so much for being willing to share about your experience at Family Camp earlier this year. Tell me just a little bit about your family.
My husband, Ben, and I live in Boerne and have four kids:  Camille, 12, Emma, 9, Charlie, 5, and Olivia, 3.  We love living in the Hill Country and being so close to beautiful places like Laity Lodge.

Why do you go to Laity Lodge Family Camp?
We initially went to Laity Lodge Family Camp in March because my husband is a Family Medicine Physician and was asked to be the camp doctor.  We loved our camp experience so much that we are going back again in August for an entire week!  We plan to make it a yearly tradition in our family because it’s such a great time of focused family time, outdoor fun, and spiritual renewal in a beautiful setting.

What do you like best?
We love so many things about Family Camp, but the thing we love most about it is the focused time with your family without the interruptions of cell phones, computers, television, etc…  Our family is having such a great time spending time together engaging in a variety of activities that we don’t even miss it!  The fact that we are in a beautiful setting on the Frio River makes it that much sweeter!

Would you share a favorite memory from Family Camp?
One of our favorite memories from Family Camp is the Round Up Large Group Time  where our family acted silly together, sang songs together, and worshiped together.  Each time we all gathered as families was a special time of blessing.

Thanks, Kelly! You really hit on one of our foundational reasons for hosting family camp – to allow families time to focus on each other and build relationships. We look forward to seeing you at the end of the summer!
