Where is Laity Lodge Family Camp?
Laity Lodge Family Camp is located in the Frio River Canyon, 12 miles north of Leakey, Texas, on Highway 83. For the most direct route from San Antonio, go west on Interstate 10 past Kerrville to the Highway 41 exit. Turn left on Highway 41. Travel about 22 miles to Highway 83. Turn left on Highway 83 and travel 15 miles to the H. E. Butt Foundation entrance on the left. Please watch for deer and other wildlife—especially if you are traveling at night. Also, there is only one small gas station available after leaving Kerrville.
Where is the nearest airport?
San Antonio International is the closest commercial airport. Be sure to include the two-hour drive from the San Antonio airport to Camp in your travel arrangements. Private aircraft can land at the Leakey airstrip, 12 miles away from the Camp.
What are the accommodations?
The camps will be either at Singing Hills or Echo Valley. Each family may choose to have a private cabin or share a cabin with another family. Towels and linens are provided. Smoking is not allowed inside buildings or on the porches. Starting in June of 2013, all Family Camps will be at Headwaters. Headwaters is built to house up to 30 families.
What is the schedule of a typical Family Camp retreat?
At Family Camp, we operate our schedule on the “ish” principle. For example, Family Roundup on Friday night starts at 8:00 p.m.-”ish”. We hope you enjoy this freedom in our schedule.
For a 3-day camp, check-in is any time after 5:00 p.m., with dinner around 7:00 p.m. on the first day. The evening Family Roundup starts around 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, we start the day with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The morning activity begins around 9:30 a.m. Lunch is served around 12:30 p.m. The afternoon is free time to play tennis, hike, swim, canoe, read, rest, or explore. The waterfront will be open and there will be 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. activity options which may include archery, mountain biking, riflery, and arts and crafts. Dinner is served around 6:00 p.m., followed by Family Roundup at 7:00 p.m. At 8:00 p.m. there will be an optional evening family activity like a bonfire or carnival. On Sunday, Laity Lodge Family Camp concludes with breakfast, a closing worship, and noon departure.
What do I bring?

- Swimsuit (for those considering swimming in the Frio)

- Bible, notebook
Will my cell phone/computer work?
Cell phones don’t work in the Canyon. There are no telephones, televisions, radios, or Internet access in the cabins. Yes, it really is a retreat place, time to truly get away. Consider it a blessing.
How can I be contacted in an emergency?
The emergency phone number to leave with folks at home is 830-792-7562 to reach the Director. The Director will take a message for you. Return calls can be made by using the pay phones. Phone cards are available for purchase.
May I bring my pet?
Please leave your pets at home.
Do you have accommodations for special needs?
Please indicate any special needs on your registration form. We are amazingly flexible with advance notice. Let us know if you have special dietary needs.
Do I have to have children to attend?
Family means something different to everyone. From two people to ten people. From infants to grandparents. From married with no children to single with a dozen children. You are welcome at Family Camp.
