Where is Laity Lodge Family Camp located?
Laity Lodge Family Camp takes place at Headwaters near the source of the Frio River on the H. E. Butt Foundation Camps, a 1,900-acre ranch deep in the Texas Hill Country, 13 miles north of Leakey on U.S. Highway 83. The camp is approximately 120 miles northwest of San Antonio and 60 miles west of Kerrville. Please watch for deer and other wildlife—especially if you are traveling at night. Also, there is only one small gas station available after leaving Kerrville.
What if we need to cancel our reservation?
Please contact the registrar at 830-315-9271. You will receive a refund, minus the nonrefundable deposit, if you cancel more than 30 days prior to your camp session. To learn more, read our full cancellation policy.
Do you have accommodations for special needs?
Please indicate any special needs or dietary restrictions on your registration form. We are amazingly flexible with advance notice.
How can people reach us while we are at camp?
Contact our registrar during business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) at 830-315-9271 or fcinfo@laitylodgefamilycamp.org. In case of an emergency, contact Headwaters directly at 830-291-8704.
Do I need to have children to attend?
Family means something different to everyone. From two people to ten people. From infants to grandparents. From married with no children to single with a dozen children. You are welcome at Family Camp.
Will my cell phone/tablet/computer work?
Fortunately, we do not have cell phone reception in the Canyon. Cell phones do not work in the Canyon. There are no telephones, televisions, radios, or internet access in the cabins.
Smart phones and GPS devices may be unreliable due to our remote location, so we recommend printing or downloading directions before you travel.
We understand that some guests might have business they need to attend to while at family camp. Vouchers can be distributed upon request that allow access to the internet for limited amounts of time.
What are some of the things we will do at Laity Lodge Family Camp?
A typical day at LLFC will include 3 meals with snacks and appetizers offered throughout the day, adults’ and kids’ devotional time, two activity times (see our activity descriptions), free time, Family Roundup and worship music in the evening, as well as a late night activity. Our schedule is subject to change, and you will receive a detailed schedule upon your arrival at camp. Sample schedules can be found here.
At LLFC, we provide opportunities to participate in a variety of activities designed to serve the desires and needs of your family. However, please know that we want you to maintain your individual freedom and flexibility so that you have the very best opportunities for your families’ enjoyment, connection, and relaxation. So whether you follow the schedule “to a T” or you decide to flex or simply rest, we are committed to giving you that environment and freedom.

Do you have a camp store?
Yes! Our Outpost store in the Welcome House sells treats like ice cream and coffee, as well as items to help you remember your time at camp.
Fishing in the Canyon?
Campers 17–64 years of age must have a fishing license. Unattended lines, trotlines, spear fishing, and seining are not permitted. Please honor our catch-and-release policy.
What if I need to do laundry?
The Outpost staff can provide you with a key to the laundry room should you need to do laundry during your time with us. Additional clean linens and towels are available at the Outpost.
What’s the camp’s relation to the H-E-B grocery store?
Laity Lodge Family Camp sits on a 1,900-acre ranch purchased by Howard and Mary Holdsworth Butt in 1954. Howard was the president of the grocery company, which his mother started in Kerrville in 1905. Laity Lodge Family Camp took shape under the direction of their son, Howard Butt, Jr., and now the third generation, Deborah and David Rogers.
May I bring my pets? May I bring my firearms? May I bring my in-laws?
Although we welcome registered service animals if they are needed to assist a guest during camp, please leave your pets and firearms at home. In-laws are optional.
